directions from windsor to Oldtrees

Go to Windsor.

Take the Singleton/Putty Road to Wilberforce (Butterfly Farm on the right)).
Go through Wilberforce and continue on the Singleton Road to Colo.
Colo is a small village with a big new concrete bridge over the Colo River.

Don’t go over the bridge!

Just before the bridge, there is a left fork off to “Upper and Lower Colo.”

Take the fork off and 50 metres to the river trun left at the T following the sign to Upper Colo. Take the Upper Colo Road.

Go past the horse farm, – then over a single track bridge – beware the oncoming 4WD hoons. Along over/past another bridge, note the bellbirds calling along this section.

Then, past a kids’ camp called Somerset, then take the gravel road.

Two more single track bridges. Mind the potholes as you come off the wooden bridges.

The gravel ends at another bridge and a big Poplar break appears. Go past this – a place called “The Ark” an orange grove, then on the left hand side appears a sign to “Colo Heights.”

Take right hand fork in road at sign – Colo Heights
This goes down another gravel road over the river.

Continue down till you reach the wooden bridge – cross over

See picnic area / car park on the right by the river
Drive up past the picnic area and go through first gate on right (with a cattle ramp on the left of the gate)

This first gate on right has a private property sign on it– that’s the main gate, the road isn’t, private that is.

Follow the track – keep to the river

Continue through the gates by the riverbank.

GATE RULE: IF ITS OPEN KEEP IT OPEN, IF ITS CLOSED CLOSE IT ONCE YOU GONE THROUGH IT

That is some six gates, open and closed.

Still keeping to the bank take ill defined track to the end where are some derelict cars. You have arrived at the entrance to our land

Continue straight ahead and camp wherever you want.

Take plenty of insect repellent and first aid kit.
Beware of biting insects, snakes and rampaging wombats.
